Целта на това практическо упражнение е да се усвоят основните стъпки от процеса по конфигуриране на локалните дискове с които разполага сървъра. Студентите ще усвоят знания за това как протича процеса по добавяне и първоначално стартиране на нов твърд диск, как се създават масиви за запис на данни и логически пространства и дялове.

2. Цел на упражнението

• Добавяне на нови твърди дискове към виртуалната машина;
• Добавяне, форматиране разделяне на дялове и дефиниране на дисковете посредством Server Manager и Disk Management приложението към Server 2012;

3. Добавяне на нови твърди дискове

Стъпка 1. – Изберете бутона Edit virtual machine settings от таба Getting Started, за да модифицирате хардуерните настройки на виртуалните машини.

The purpose of this exercise is to present to the students the main steps to configure the local disks and the local storage in Windows Server 2012. The students will learn about the possibility to add new disks to the Windows Server OS and how to initialize and use them. The students will also obtain new knowledge and will improve their skills about the main configuration specifics of the volumes and folders in the Windows Server 2012 OS.

2. Aim of the exercise

• Adding and initialization of new disks to the Windows Server 2012 OS;
• Adding, formatting, volume splitting and organizing the disks using the Server Manager and Disk Management tools in Server 2012.

3. Adding new hard drives

Step 1. – Select the Edit virtual machine settings button from the Getting Started tab. This will allow you to modify the hardware components and settings for the virtual machines.

Стъпка 2. – На екрана ще се отвори нов прозорец, от който можете да видите наличния хардуер за виртуалната машина. Изберете бутона Add…

Step 2. – On the screen you will see a new window that will display to you the available hardware components of the virtual machine. Select the button Add…

Стъпка 3. – Екрана, който ще се появи, ще ви изведе списък с възможните устройства, които могат да се добавят към сървъра. Маркирайте твърдия диск (Hard Drive) и изберете Next.

Step 3. – The screen of the newly opened window will provide you with a list of the possible to add devices. Mark the hard disk (Hard Disk) and select Next.

Стъпка 4. – Следващия екран съдържа диалогов прозорец, с който се изисква от потребителя да дефинира дали за новия диск ще се използва съществуващ виртуален диск или ще се създаде нов. Изберете Create a new virtual disk и изберете Next. Укажете големината на диска да е 10GB. Оставете всички други настройки по подразбиране и изберете Next.

Step 4. – The next screen will contain a dialog window, which will require from you to select between the options to create a new disk and to use an existing virtual disk. Select the Create a new virtual disk option and click on the Next button. In the next window, set the disk size to 10GB. Leave all other settings to their defaults and select the Next button.

Стъпка 5. – Следващия екран ще изиска от вас да зададете шината, чрез която ще се извършва връзката към новият диск. Оставете стойността по подразбиране и изберете Next. Ще се появи екрана за потвърждение на добавянето на диска – изберете Finish.

Step 5. – The next screen will require from you to set the type of the virtual bus for the link to the new disk. Leave the setting to its default and click on the Next button. You will see a screen for the confirmation of the disk adding process – select Finish.

Стъпка 6. – Повторете последните няколко стъпки и добавете още два (общо три) нови диска с големина от по 10GB. Когато сте готови екрана с наличния хардуер за сървъра трябва да изглежда като този на следващата фигура. Изберете ОК. Това действие ще предизвика реконфигуриране на виртуалната машина. Прогреса при изпълнението на процеса може да се наблюдава от лентата със събития на vSphere клиента.

Step 6. – Repeat the previous steps and add two additional new disks (for a total of three), with the size of each of them of 10GB. When you are ready with this task, the window with the hardware components for the server should look like the one from the figure below. Select the button ОК. This action will cause the reconfiguration of the virtual machine hardware components. The progress for the completion of the reconfiguration process can be seen from the events bar of the vSphere client.

4. Използване на Server Manager за конфигуриране на новите дискове

Стъпка 1. – Достъпете операционната система като използвате паролата MAPassword123 за профил Administrator.
Стъпка 2. – След зареждането на Server Manager изберете File and Storage Services. Изберете Disks. Ще се появи списък с наличните дискове за системата. С какви дискове разполага системата? Колко са наброй дисковете?

Step 7. – Start the virtual machine.

4. Use of the Server Manager for initialization and reconfiguration of the new disks

Step 1. – Access the Windows Server OS by using the password MAPassword123 for the user Administrator.
Step 2. – After the loading of the Server Manager, select File and Storage Services. Select Disks. You will see the list of the disks, which are available to the system (Fig. 13). What kind of disks are available to the system? How many are the available disks?

Стъпка 3. – Изберете Диск 1, който е маркиран като изключен. От контексното меню изберете Bring Online. Ще се появи съобщение за предупреждение, което ще ви информира, че неможе да се активира диск, който вече е активен за друга машина. Изберете Yes. Диска ще промени състоянието си на Online.

Step 3. – Select Disc 1, which is marked as Offline. From the context menu select Bring Online. You will see a warning message, which will inform you that you cannot activate a disk if the disk is already active for another computer. Select Yes. The disk will change its state to Online.

Стъпка 4. – Изберете отново Диск 1 и изберете от контекстното меню Initialize. На екрана ще се появи съобщение, че информацията на диска ще бъде изгубена. Тъй като това е нов диск и на него няма информация изберете Yes. Диска ще се форматира и на него ще се инсталира файлова система. Каква файлова система се инсталира? А каква е файловата система на Диск 0? След това действие диска ще е готов за създаване на дялове.

Step 4. – Select again Disk 1 and from the context menu select Initialize. On the screen you will see a message, which will tell you that all data on the disk will be lost. As this is a new disk and there is no information on it, select Yes. The disk will be formatted and the new file system will be configured for the disk. Which file system was installed for the disk? What is the file system for Disk 0? After this action the disk will be ready to be split in logical volumes.

Стъпка 5. – От Server Manager изберете Tools > Computer Management. Ще се зареди екрана за управление на компютъра – Computer Management. Изберете Disk Management от дясната страна на прозореца. В основното работно поле на екрана ще се зареди Disk Management snap-in приложението за работа с дисковете.

Step 5. – From the Server Manager select Tools > Computer Management. You will see the screen for the computer management – Computer Management. Select Disk Management from the left side of the window. In the main working area of the screen you will see the Disk Management snap-in tool for work with the disks.

Стъпка 6. – Изберете с десен бутон Disk 2. От контекстното меню изберете Online. Отново изберете диска с десен бутон и от контекстното меню изберете Initialize Disk. Изберете опцията GPT (GUID Partition Table) и изберете OK. Статуса на Disk 2 ще се промени на Online. Повторете последните стъпки, за да инициализирате и Disk 3.

Step 6. – Select with the right mouse button Disk 2. From the context menu select Online. Select again the disk and with the right button access the context menu and select Initialize Disk. Select the option GPT (GUID Partition Table) and click on the button OK. The status of Disk 2 will change to Online. Repeat the last steps, so that you can initialize Disk 3 as well.

Step 1. – Select Server Manager > File and Storage Services and choose the Volumes tab. You will see the screen for work with the volumes and disks.

Стъпка 2. – Изберете Tasks > New Volume. Ще се появи приложението за създаване на нов логически дял. Изберете Next. Ще се появи страницата Select the server and disk. Изберете Disk 1 и изберете Next. Ще се появи страницата Specify the size of the volume. От полето Volume size изберете максималния за диска обем и изберете Next. Ще се появи страницата Assign to a drive letter or folder. Изберете Next. Ще се появи страницата Select file system. Изберете Next. Ще се появи страница за проверка и потвърждение на действието. Изберете Create. Ще се появи страница с информация за резултата от действието. Изберете Close. Новосъздадения логически дял ще се появи на страницата Volumes.

Step 2. – Select Tasks > New Volume. You will see the wizard for the creation of a new logical volume. Select Next. You will be redirected to the Select the server and disk page. Select Disk 1 and select Next. You will see the page Specify the size of the volume. From the Volume size field select the maximum value for the disk and click on the Next button. You will see the Assign to a drive letter or folder window. Select Next. You will see the Select file system page. Select Next. You will see the page for the verification and confirmation of the action. Select Create. You will see the page with the information for the results of the action. Click on the Close button. The newly created logical volume will appear in the Volumes section of the screen.

Стъпка 3. – Стартирайте отново Computer Management екрана. Новия логически дял, който създадохте ще се появи за Disk 1 ( трябва да сте избрали Disk Management от страничната лента).

Step 3. – Start again the Computer Management screen. The new logical volume, which was created will appear for Disk 1 (you should have selected Disk Management from the sidebar).

Стъпка 4. – Изберете Диск 2 и маркирайте незаделеното място на него. От контекстното меню изберете New Simple Volume. Ще се появи началния екран на инсталационната програма за нови логически дялове – New Simple Volume Wizard. Изберете Next. Ще се появи страницата Specify Volume Size. Изберете обема на новия дял в MB. Използвайте максималното възможно количество. Изберете Next. Ще се появи страницата за заделяне на нова идентификация за дяла – Assign Drive Letter or Path. Изберете Next. Ще се появи страницата Format Partition. Изберете Next. Ще се появи страницата за приключване на процеса. Изберете Finish. Новия логически дял ще се появи и ще заеме целия обем на Disk 2.

Step 4. – Select Disk 2 and mark the unallocated space in it. From the context menu select New Simple Volume. You will see the starting screen of the wizard for addition of new volumes – New Simple Volume Wizard. Select Next. You will see the page Specify Volume Size. Select the size for the new volume in MB. Use the whole available space. Select Next. You will see the page for the allocation of the drive letter to the volume – Assign Drive Letter or Path. Select Next. You will see the page Format Partition. Select Next. You will see the page for the completion of the process. Select Finish. The new volume will appear and will cover the whole size of Disk 2.

Стъпка 5. – Използвайте предходните стъпки, за да създадете нов дял G:\, който да се намира на третия диск – този, който все още не сте инициализирали и форматирали.

Step 5. – Use the steps from above to create a new volume G:\, which will be located on the third disk – the one that was not initialized and formatted.
